So I
have an obsession with watching/reading other peoples monthly favourites and
empties post/videos so I figured I’d try to do them myself. However considering
I don’t wear a lot of makeup or use a lot of skincare my empties posts may not
be monthly, probably bi-monthly at best.
Actually
let’s just call this the January + February empties post yeah?
This
month there’s a bit more because I dumped some makeup products because they
were too old.
p.s.
I don’t have a picture of all my empties all together because I hate having
empty stuff lying around and I dump them all straight in the recycling. :P
next
time I’ll try and get a picture of all of them, maybe independently and stick
all the pictures together heh.
Australis
mousse foundation in buff beige
I’ve been meaning to do a
review of this but in the end it was too old to keep any longer so I dumped it.
I’ve got the pictures and I’ll probably post the review later, but in short
this foundation catches on dry patches and can’t control oil, so unless you
have the most perfectly balanced skin that doesn’t dry out or get oily I can’t
recommend this to anyone. It was comfortable to put on but the colour was off
for me. There are only 6 shades in this range and none of them really matched
me, which is no surprise considering I have yet to find a good match in any
‘pharmacy’ brand.
Maybelline
One by One mascara waterproof version
This was the third mascara
I bought, and I thought long and hard trying to pinpoint what I wanted in a
mascara, amongst all the completely over the top marketing bullshit that
mascaras seem to excel at. I chose not to buy the falsies by Maybelline because
I mainly wanted length and curl, not so much volume, but I kinda want to try it
just for comparison now. This mascara didn’t do that much for my lashes, it
sorta made them slightly thicker, which made them seem a bit longer as the tips
became more obvious. It could hold a curl but if I put on more than 2 – 3 coats
my lashes started to droop. I like this mascara for not clumping my lashes like
the old Revlon one did, though they do start clumping after 2 – 3 coats. It’s
more of a definition kind of mascara in that sense.
Montagne
Jeunesse breakout face mask + moisturiser
I finished the mask in
January and finished the little moisturiser pocket in February (mainly because
I forgot I had it). Honestly not much to say about this mask, I didn’t feel
like it did anything much it might have brought 1 – 2 pimples to the surface
but I still got pimples while using it and my forehead still got oily so I
won’t buy it again. The mask felt like any other clay mask, though it dried
faster than the others, and the moisturiser felt tingly in that menthol way
when I put it on, and smells like mint but otherwise didn’t really do much.
Didn’t dry out my face so I guess that’s a plus.
I finished this on the
first day of the new year and because I’d kept forgetting, I didn’t have
another moisturiser yet, argh. I managed to buy the Sukin facial moisturiser
the next day whew~!
I was
swapping between this toner and the Nivea pure visage toner before but since
this bottle was nearly finished (and I cracked the bottle near the lid), I
began using this one all the time to finish it off and I finally finished it in
January I think.
Loreal
perfectionist moisturiser sample
Ok do
sample packs count? I’m gonna pretend they count because usually I get a couple
of uses out of them so I get a vague idea of whether I like it. For this sample
I think I got 3 uses and I thought it was ok. It didn’t irritate my skin, felt
a tiny bit silicone-y and was a lightly hydrating moisturiser, not heavy at
all. It definitely blurred my pores or somehow made the pores on my nose a
bit smaller, so that was impressive.
Finally
finished this!, Holy crap you have no idea how long I’ve had this, it finally
got to the point that nothing would come out of the bottle so I could dump it!
Batiste
dry shampoo in medium and brunette
Finally
a dry shampoo that actually works! Usually the one that everyone loves is the
one that doesn’t impress me but this time it actually absorbed all the hair
oil! My hair felt like dry clean hair again! I meant to do a review but since I
finished it without getting around to it, I might have to wait until I buy a
second bottle to be sure.
This
dry shampoo finished quite suddenly, I was spraying it and then half way
through one spray the noise changed and when I tried to spray again, nothing
was coming out onto my hair, it was just gas. I bought the Klorane dry shampoo
for oily scalp to replace this, as I’ve been meaning to try out Klorane for a
while now, but this is definitely a dry shampoo I’d go back to.
Chapstick
lip conditioner with spf 15
I
used this lipbalm until I couldn’t twist anymore up and then I scooped the pit
left and put it into an old contacts lens case, so technically I haven’t
finished it but I dumped the tube so . . .
This
lipbalm reminded me of why I stopped using chapsticks, they’re not bad, but
they don’t really moisturise, the ones I’ve tried anyway. They just kinda form
a barrier on top of my lips.
Nivea
lipbalm Pure&Natural in ??
I can’t
remember what the smell was and I think they’ve changed the formulas because my
tube didn’t look like the Nivea olive and lemon one but that’s the closest
looking one (it was pale green too). I bought it when it was in a discount bin
and it had olive but I don’t think it had lemon. It was a nice hydrating type
of lipbalm, the kind that forms a thin layer that is soon absorbed, and has no
spf so I used it at home when my lips were a little dry. I quite liked it, so I
might buy it’s successor the olive and lemon one.
Sorta
cheating:
Savvy
by db deep raspberry lipstick
I didn’t finish this
lipstick but I did dump the container because I transferred it to an old
contacts case. Savvy is cheap anyway and this was one of their one-off cheap
products in a bin for $3 at priceline. I liked the colour so I bought it, but
the twist-up mechanism on the cheap-ass packaging was jerky and then one time
it broke at the base so I just figured I’d dump the packaging and keep the
colour. Honestly I’m not fond of this lipstick formula either, it smells
unpleasant (I’m not sure like what exactly, like off lipstick? I dunno), it’s a
little bit greasy feeling and it’s got little silver glitter bits that you can
feel when you put it on.
Maxfactor
flipstick colour effect lipstick in boreal mauve (I think)
This was actually my mum’s,
she finished off the pink end but didn’t finish off the light pink end so I
depotted that end into a contacts lens case as well. It’s really shimmery, but
at least the formulas nice, and it doesn’t smell gag worthy.
